Merle Chaplin

Marshall County dairy farmer Merle Lee Chaplin 83, of Moundsville, W.V. passed away Monday February 17, 2020 at home. He was born June 15, 1936 in Marshall County son of the late Dane and Virginia Richmond Chaplin. Chaplin was a member of the milk marketing Cooperative for over 50 years. Merle 22 years ago had been appointed as a member of the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board. He became the first West Virginian to ever be named on the 36-member board. Chaplin was nominated by the members of Milk Marketing Inc. an 8,000-member dairy farmer-owned cooperative encompassing 13 states. Preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Ralph. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean Neehouse Chaplin, two daughters, Betty (Larry) Jochum of Sistersville, Wv and Sharon Triplett of Cambridge, Ohio one son, Randy Chaplin of Moundsville, W.V. three sisters, Martha Sego, Barbara O'Brien, and Phyllis Boggzevity all of Zephyrhills, Fla. one brother, James Chaplin of Moundsville, W.V. and two sister-in-laws, Ellabea and Julie , grandchildren, Virginia (Jared) Goddard, Desiree Triplett, Sarah (Jeremy) Jasenec, Tarah (Owen) Barr, Mark Jochum, Laura (Joe) Goudy,; five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Liam, Layla, Jakob, Kaiden and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends Wednesday February 19, 2020 FROM 4-7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 1109 2nd St. Moundsville, W.V. where services will be held Thursday February 20, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Fred Goddard officiating. Interment in Salem Church of Christ Cemetery.
