Jack L. Hart Sr.
Jack Leonard Hart, Sr. 83, of Cameron, West Virginia passed away August 27th in Cameron Health Care following a five-month bout with Cancer.
He was born on July 13th, 1940, in Wheeling, West Virginia. A 1958 graduate of Cameron High School, 1977 graduate of the West Virginia State Police Academy and a 1989 graduate of West Liberty (State College) University. Served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1965, also served as Captain at the former West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville from 1972 to 1975. He was a Deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department from 1975 until his retirement in 2000 serving in several capacities including Sergeant, Chief of Detectives, State & Federal Drug Task Forces. Served on the Cameron City Council for 12 years & served in various capacities with the Cameron Methodist Church. A member of the Cameron American Legion Post 18 and Cameron Masonic Lodge. Jack was a big fan of his Cameron Dragons, West Virginia Mountaineers & Pittsburgh Steelers. Jack was very proud to have served a career in law enforcement & investigations. Proceeded in death by his parents, Leonard Earl (Ben) Hart in 1986 & Mildred Lucile (Midge) Hill Hart in 2015; his wife, Sandra (Sandy) Kay Hart in 2010. Surviving are his sons, Frank (Tara) Hall, Jack (Kathy) Hart, Jr., Tom (Tiffany) Hart; grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Ben Hart, Leah Hart, Kurt Hall & Shyanne Hall; great grandchildren, Chance David Smith, Emery Kay Smith & Ella Grace Smith. A memorial service will be held at the Cameron Methodist Church on Saturday September 9th at 1pm. Those wishing to pay their respects to the family may do so from 11am until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Dunn officiating. Private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron High School Athletic Department or Cameron United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
