James Barr

James E. Barr of Moundsville, WV passed away peacefully at Lizas place in Wheeling, WV on December 16, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Jim was 76 years old. He was born on May 12, 1947, in New Martinsville, WV to the late Russell, "Carl" Barr and Norma Stoneking Barr. Jim joined the Marine Corps immediately following high school and served his country with pride, he then went on to work for Blaw Knox in Wheeling, West Virginia, and spent many years as an over the road, truck driver. Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with tinkering on any little projects, and making things by hand, there was nothing that he couldn’t figure out or fix , if given the time, He was a loving father, grandfather brother and friend, his passion and integrity to those he loved was unwavering. He is preceded in death by his mother and father as well of his loving wife, Linda Burton Barr of 43 years. Jim is survived by his daughter Theresa Barr Vanscyoc, (Mike), 2 grandsons, Justen Barr and Ryan (Hailey) Barr; 4 great-grandchildren, three stepsons Bill (Cindy) Kidd, Bob (Christina) Kidd, and Brian (Cindy) Kidd, 9 step-grandchildren, multiple step-great grandchildren. Jim also leaves behind four sisters, Sarah (Steve) Pettit, Lavera Barr, Debra Shuman, and the late, Michael Shuman, Mary (Bob) Haught and several nieces and nephews. Jim will be missed by all those he left behind. He was one of a kind and to be loved by him was to be truly blessed. At his request, and his final wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral.
