Mary "Peg - Peggy" Cantu

Mary Margaret "Peg - Peggy" Bonar Cantu, 80 of Cameron, W.V. passed away Monday May 12, 2025, in her home surrounded by immediate family.

She was a twin born on July 4, 1944, in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late John Samuel and Anna Margaret (Anderson) Bonar. She grew up in West Alexander, Pa., moved around the country, and eventually followed her children to Cameron, WV.  She was a devoted member of the Wolf Run Presbyterian Church, Cameron, WV. Peggy worked as a Wackenhut security guard in Homestead, FL, farmed and retired as a CNA from Cameron Continuous Care in Cameron, WV.

She enjoyed hobbies; golfing, archery, swimming, making spirits, but her true love was her grandchildren.  She was a devoted grandmother, often watching all 5 rambunctious grandkids at one time, taking them on adventures. They branded her "MomMom" - a title which she was known as by all their friends, a name she wore proudly.

Peg is survived by daughters, Kandy (Mike) Dunn and Ginger (Colen Short) Arbogast, both of Cameron, WV, brother, Larry Miller of Crouse, NC, sisters, Nancy Hancher of Alva, Fl. Susan (Steve) Philpott of Las Vegas, NV.; Lisa (Rich Dececco) Bonar of Glenshaw, Pa. 4 grandchildren, Clifford (Amber) Arbogast, Cinnamon (Jason) Kent, Jasper Arbogast, Jared (Machele) Dunn, 6 great grandchildren, Aleigha and Mackenzie Kent, Zoey and Denver Arbogast, Lyla and Hallie Dunn. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter Chandra N. Dunn, two sisters, Barbie Bonar and Patty Cicollela, one brother Terry Miller and brother-in-law Dan Hancher.  She requested no services, but memorial contributions can be made to Wolf Run Presbyterian Church Mission Fund.

A private interment was held at Wolf Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Arrangements were entrusted  to Anderson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services 1109 2nd St. Moundsville, W.Va.
