Roger William "Bill" Francis

Roger William “Bill” Francis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on August 22, 1940,  son of the late Clifford Francis and Lucile Lutes Francis.


Bill married the love of his life, Mary Redd Francis, and together they shared 61 years of marriage, building a home filled with love and faith. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Diane Francis Ciavone (husband Jeff), Tracy Francis Lambeth (husband Scott), and a proud grandfather to Will and Elle Lambeth, who brought him endless joy. 


Bill is survived by his brothers Robert "Bob" Francis of Proctor, WV, Melvin Francis of Moundsville, WV, and Justin Francis of Moundsville, WV, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles (Chuck) Francis, Harold Francis, Glen Francis, and his sister Betty (Janie) Kunze. Bill served his country honorably as a United States Navy Veteran, a role he carried with pride throughout his life, Bill was a recipient of the  Quilt of Valor award, after his military service, he dedicated 39 years to PPG Industries, working as an instrument technician. During his career at PPG, Bill was actively involved in Partners in Education with John Marshall High School, supporting educational initiatives and encouraging young minds.


A member of the National Pike Knife Club. His commitment and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.  Outside of work, Bill loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and antiquing at auctions, and he never missed an early morning cup of coffee with friends and retirees at the Pleasant Valley Store.  While his greatest joy was always his family, he also valued the special bond he shared with Lee Francis, Tim Hicks, and Gary Brent Dobbs, whom he considered like sons. These friendships enriched his life and created cherished memories.


His faith was central to his life, and he was an active member of the First Christian Church in Moundsville, as well being very active in the Property Committee & Maintenance Club where he found fellowship and purpose. Bill will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled. 


In lieu of flowers, Bill requested that donations be made to the First Christian Church in Moundsville in his honor. Family will receive friends Tuesday December 23, 2025, from 11a.m. until time of services at 1:30 with Pastor Wesley Howsare officiating at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services1109 2nd St. Moundsville, W.V. where the Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Burial immediately following services to Beeler's   Station Christian Church Cemetery
