Sara Walters

Sara Jane Walters, 82, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

She was born on June 4, 1939 in Glen Dale, WV to the late Wm. Vernon and Elizabeth Chison Smith. Sara was retired from American Electric Power, a member of St. Francis Xavier parish and God’s Children of Love prayer group. She was a crazy plant lady, master pumpkin pie maker, and her grandchildren’s biggest fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Walters in 2018, as well as her brothers, Wm. Vernon (Bud) Smith Jr., Roger Smith and David Smith. She is survived by her daughters: Jackie (Tom) Carpenter, LeeAnne (Harley) South and Christine (Reggie) Ours; her grandchildren: Sara Freeman and Mackenzie Carpenter; Lauren and Lindsay Cook and Carley South; Brayden and Kendall Ours, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. At Sara's request there will be no visitation. Family & friends are invited to attend A funeral mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, 912 7th Street, Moundsville, WV on Thursday, September 2 at 11:00 AM, with Reverend That Son Ngoc Nguyen officiating.
