William Oliver Chipps

William Oliver Chipps, 76 of Moundsville, W.Va., passed away Monday April 3, 2017

at home. He was born July 27, 1940 in Washington, Pa., son of the late Kenneth and IIIa Clemmons Chipps. Retired from Ireland Mine with 27 years of service.

A U.S. Army veteran. A member of the American Legion Post #3 Moundsville, was also employed by West Virginia State Police, Laughlin Memorial Chapel and Northern Panhandle and the West Virginia Penitentiary . Preceded in death by his parents, wife Sheila Anderson Chipps, one grandson Christopher Chipps. Survived by three daughters Sheila (Howard) VanScyoc of Cameron, W.V., Linda (Larry) Fisher of Jackson, Ohio, Lisa (David) Hodges of Hampton, Virginia, three sisters Mary Magers of Pa., Sylvia VanScyoc of Moundsville, W.V. and Goldie Paith of Aleppo, Pa., seven grandchildren Amie and Joey Wood, Dakota, Heather, Howard Jr., VanScyoc, Lisa (Punkey) Grout, Linda Serrano, and several great-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, and loved by all the neighborhood children. Family will receive friends Wednesday April 5, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 1109 2nd St. Moundsville, W.V. and Thursday April 6, 2017 from noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Susan Meteals officiating. Interment in Riverview Cemetery. Where the Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors.
